Living an ordinary life means seeing how things change and we adapt to those changes. Living an EXTRA- ordinary life means achieving something greater that we are proud of.
Leadership trainings happen every new school year. Newly- elected student leaders from the Grade and High school Communities gather together to learn about their different roles as examples to the their fellow learners. This Centennial Year, we had a chance to listen to one of the new City Councilors of Iloilo City, Councilor Jason Gonzales. We were grateful to have him as a speaker because he taught us the value of what a student leader should embody. 'A true leader has COURAGE." He said. This courage must be shown not only to your own self but to other people too. He explained and gave examples on how he himself had the courage to stand up for what is right even before when he was still in his high school years. I learned that one of the temptations of being a leader is how you would be able to live an ordinary life despite the power and advantages. We have to always keep our feet on the ground and be humble enough to serve others. We should not expect anything in return for what we've done well. I believe though, that student leaders have that "extra" thing in themselves that make them stand out as best examples to others. A leader has that extra duty to fulfill in her life, a goal that will inspire others to do the same. To have the courage is to stand up for the truth, to have the courage in dealing with problems and fears, and to have the courage to do service beyond expectations are the challenges of being a leader. A student leader admits her failures and goes through changes that make her better even if an extraordinary life means more tasks to achieve.
